Window sill systems
Tested and verified window sill systems
In order for the window and window sill to become a single unit on facades, communication between the various trades across interfaces is essential. And it is crucial that components fit together and are easy to install.
Water tightness under heavy rain
At BUG, all the components of a window sill are designed to complement one another. This is how the window sill can fulfil its task of protecting the facade in heavy rain. It is also a flexible system that uses sliding closures to compensate for differences in length when the temperature changes.
When installed correctly, a tested window sill system therefore offers
- reliable protection against the weather,
- improves durability
- and adds value to the building.
Safe installation
Aside from protecting the facade, tested and certified window sill systems also simplify installation. The combination of standard components enables a smooth and secure installation – even for special construction designs. The aluminium components can be adapted and processed directly on site, rendering them ideal components in terms of practicality.

When it comes to functionality, with BUG you can rely on a sophisticated, safe window sill system:
- It has the recommended drainage slope of at least 5 degrees.
- Thanks to tested seals, it ensures complete water tightness under heavy rain.
- Sliding closures, butt connectors, screws and sealing discs are designed to be flexible in order to compensate for temperature-related expansion and contraction of the window sill.
- All materials are highly UV-resistant.

- Take the load off the window sill system using specialised brackets that also prevent the window sill from slipping and pushing up.

FAQs about window sill systems
Below we have compiled some answers to the most frequently asked questions about window sill systems. You can find further information in our FAQs.
Window sill systems include all the components required to install a window sill, as well as the window sill itself. At BUG, a window sill system includes the following, depending on your requirements:
- the window sill,
- Mounting accessories (screws, screw cover caps with sealing washers),
- Screw-on seals,
- Edge profiles,
- Window sill brackets
- Butt connectors (for straight joints and corners),
- Pillar recesses,
- if necessary sill decks,
- and rain noise insulation (anti-drumming).
Aluminium has several advantages over other window sill materials: Aluminium is corrosion-resistant, durable and almost completely recyclable. This makes it one of the most sustainable solutions for construction.
It is also a lightweight material, which means weight savings in construction. Aluminium is easy to process and shape. This enables a wide range of technically sophisticated solutions that are also easy to install.
Last but not least, the design and appearance of aluminium window sill systems are also appealing. They can blend seamlessly into the architecture of a building and can be colour-coordinated with the rest of the design.
All components of a BUG window sill system have been tested and verified and can therefore be combined with one another. If used within other systems, BUG does not guarantee full functionality and safety.
There are no restrictions on the choice of windows. BUG window sill systems are compatible with all common window types and roller shutter guide systems and can be installed. During installation, the state of the art in accordance with standards and guidelines must be observed.
We recommend cross-interface planning and close coordination between trades before, during and after installation by the individual trades.
