BUG window sill seal AD 500
Tested, securely connecting screw-on seal
Product overview
How the window sill screw-on seal works
The solution from BUG for sealing aluminium window sills against the window frame consists of a highly sophisticated EPDM seal, which is designed to permanently seal the window sill to the screw plate, even when there are temperature changes.
High level of tightness against the window frame
To ensure the external window sill can be mounted directly on the window frame, a secure solution in the form of a screw-on seal is required. The newly developed window sill screw-on seal AD 500 boasts the ideal properties to securely and permanently connect accessory components with one another for BUG window sill systems.. If installed correctly, no rainwater can penetrate. The window sill edge sits flush to the masonry to ensure water drains away along a defined path. Here, the high quality standard of the EPDM seal supports the excellent sealing capability of the new window sill screw-on seal from BUG.
Benefits of the window sill screw-on seal AD 500
Securely integrated: The BUG window sill system 500 with screw-on seal AD 500
The self-adhesive window sill screw-on seal provides the first level of sealing, offering the ideal solution when used in combination with the aluminium window sill and the window sill edge or with the butt connector. The latter, when used with the screw-on seal AD 500, enables the secure and simple installation of window sills over 3,000 millimetres. Another benefit is that the window sill screw-on seal AD 500 from BUG, with its self-adhesive and permanent sealing tape, ideally complements and optimises the BUG System 500.
Water tightness under heavy rain with the screw-on seal in System 500
Are you looking for an all-in-one concept for sealing aluminium window sills outdoors? When using window sills, sliding closures, butt connectors and the pillar recess from BUG, the innovative design of the sealing tape enables water to drain away along a defined path. View overviewThe screw-on seal for window sills is easy to use
The new window sill seal AD 500 has been tested for use in both the recessed and flush installation of window sills. The recessed mounting position can be used with and without butt connectors. The flush mounting position can be used without butt connectors. This gives you flexible options for mounting. Cut the window sill screw-on seal to your desired length and shorten it to the precise size required.. Then remove the protective film and attach the screw-on seal to the window sill using adhesive strips.
The use of the BUG butt connector H 500 D is particularly recommended for window fronts. The screw-on seal is attached in combination with the butt connector according to the same principle. Just make sure that the overall length of the EPDM seal is sufficient. This ensures easy handling and secure installation.
FAQs about the screw-on seal AD 500 for window sills
Here you will find practical answers and concrete instructions for using window sill screw-on seals. Further information, including on other window sill components, can be found in our FAQs on window sill systems.
To ensure you get a long-term and secure solution that is watertight under heavy rain, you should use a seal for aluminium window sills that has been tested and verified. To achieve this, use sealing tape that has been slightly compressed or an EPDM seal. If the tested screw-on seal AD 500 is installed correctly, you are guaranteed a facade that is fully protected from the penetration of water. At the same time, the EPDM seal can compensate for slightly uneven areas or irregularities in the masonry and still provide a fully reliable seal.
The prefabricated adhesive surface, in combination with window sill edges and butt connectors, is sufficient to attach the window sill to the screw-on seal. For installation on the window frame, you need to use corrosion-resistant screws. This creates a corresponding contact pressure between the window sill, EPDM seal and screw plate. Depending on the material, choose a maximum diameter of 3.9 millimetres with a sliding and sealing disk.
The screw-on seal from BUG is tested at the ift in Rosenheim and certified for water tightness under heavy rain up to 1,950 Pascal. However, since these are laboratory conditions, you must additionally secure the seal of the aluminium window sill on site. For this reason, we recommend using the opportunity to install a second level of sealing to increase reliability.
Combinable screw-on seal for use with BUG accessories
The AD 500 window sill screw-on seal can be easily combined with the H 500 D butt connector from BUG, an important accessory component.. The sealing tape is not only suitable for use directly on the window sill, but also on a general basis with window sill accessories. For example, the permanent and self-adhesive sealing tape can also be used for BUG wall flashing trims. This means that the window sill screw-on seal is not just suitable for the window sill area, but also for the roof area. Simple and practical to use, multifunctional in application! Saving you time and resources.
