Effective protection of the building envelope from BUG
Various structural and legal requirements apply to the building envelope and insulation. The various functions of a building envelope must be carefully considered when designing connections and seals for all trades. This is the only way to ensure the building envelope’s lasting quality and high efficiency.
As well as separating the interior from the exterior, the building envelope protects against climatic and external influences such as precipitation, wind, outside temperature, radiation and noise. Its load-bearing structure plays an important supporting role in the construction of the building. It also affects the building’s thermal insulation, energy efficiency and indoor climate. For this reason, designing an ideal protection strategy against these environmental impacts is important. This includes a building envelope that is robustly designed to withstand environmental influences.
As a solutions provider with a systems-based approach, BUG has set itself the task of developing conceptual and constructive system components to protect buildings. BUG offers comprehensive, sophisticated, state-of-the-art solutions for facades, wooden windows, wood-aluminium windows, window sills and flat roofs. We present two robust profile systems from the manufacturer that offer high-performance safety for buildings, especially in view of changing environmental influences, with professional installation.
Verge cladding for flat roofs
OV 2000 verge cladding is characterised by its automatic storm protection and high stability, thanks to the aluminium extrusion of up to 300 millimetres. Special drip strips provide an advanced level of overflow protection. The verge cladding is characterised by its continuously height-adjustable, swivelling joint bracket. This joint bracket allows for flexibility in response to structural changes in the roof edge area of the flat roof. At the same time, the bracket ensures quick and easy installation as well as lasting safety. OV 2000 reliably absorbs the thermal expansion of the aluminium cladding. In addition, this edge area cladding is compatible with all standard roof sealants up to 5 millimetres thick. More information under BUG verge cladding.
Wood-aluminium windows for intelligent thermal insulation
The low-E 2 low-energy window fulfils all the requirements of the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) for low-energy and passive houses as well as for thermal insulation. According to information from BUG, the Uw value is 0.67. The profile system can be used alongside the recessed and flush systems from BUG. This means that the appearance can be adapted to suit any type of building. Another benefit of this window system is that it combines wood and aluminium with thermal insulation materials, all while using the same production technology for the frames. More information under BUG low-energy solutions.
Effective weather protection for wooden windows
The AP16.24 weather protection rail is characterised by its robustness. This means that it can be used without any problems, even in regions with strong environmental conditions, such as the North Sea. The BUG rail can be mounted in just two clicks and offers the benefit of a double guide with a click. A special large water drainage prevents and regulates moisture damage to the window frame and interior due to overflowing. The water runs through completely. The result is a fully rear-ventilated system. This prevents the creation of moisture or capillaries. In addition, the formation of a cold bridge is prevented and condensation on the rail is avoided. The AP 16.24 attachment rail achieves a good frame insulation value thanks to its combination of aluminium, weather-resistant special plastic and wood, making it ideal for passive house windows. This aluminium door threshold ramp designed to protect terraces, roof terraces and balconies
The AN 150 aluminium door threshold ramp is an elegant step protection profile with a wide projection. This rigid wall flashing trim is designed as step protection terraces, roof terraces and balconies. It features pre-fabricated standard corners and butt connectors. Thanks to its shallow installation depth, the AN 150 can be easily and practically installed on site using push-through mounting. According to manufacturer BUG, the stable profile contact pressure ensures long-lasting safety. More information under BUG aluminium door threshold ramps.
Gravel stops – system profile for flat roofs, terraces and balconies
The gravel stops KF 45, KF 70 and KF 90 enable controlled water drainage at connections to the roof edge, balcony or terrace. They form a robust, one-piece profile system for balcony and terrace edges. The integrated water drainage slots ensure efficient water runoff, while butt connectors and prefabricated internal and external corners simplify the installation process. The gravel stops are available in different heights (45 millimetres, 70 millimetres and 90 millimetres). Gravel stops are a vital component in modern construction and eco-friendly roofing solutions. More information under BUG gravel stops.
Sliding closure for ETICS window sill systems
Thanks to the compensating springs in the aluminium housing of the sliding profile, the A 600 GS sliding closure reliably absorbs a thermal change in length of up to +/- 3 millimetres. The aluminium plug-in profile is fitted to the window sill with a light tap. The aluminium sliding profile and plastic springs are then simply clipped on or slid on. Easy customisation and notching are possible. Another benefit is the new, bevelled aluminium housing. It creates a self-contained closure while simultaneously forming an impact- and injury-resistant front housing. More benefits and information under BUG sliding closure.
