Special weather protection rails with rebate-independent weather bars
Do you want to improve the drainage of water from the rebate area of modern windows and at the same time increase the thermal insulation values? Then we recommend the weather protection bars AP 16.24 and AP 16.23. Both attachment rails are designed for wide cover frames and offer a high level of reliability and tightness. The sophisticated design ensures that surface water and condensation are directed outwards via the cover frame or aluminium rails.

Weather protection rails for rebate-bound constructions
BUG weather bars are as versatile as the range of milling tools. Systems 19, 22 or 25 are used depending on the rebate depth. Various versions are available within these systems.
Upgrade to thermal weather protection rails
The rebate-dependent weather protection rails of systems 19, 22 or 25 are supplied with or without thermal break. The thermal weather protection bar provides thermal insulation in the area of the lower window rebate. It reduces condensation on the stop bar and freezing of the seal, preventing cold and heat bridges that can lead to mould growth.
Special features and differences of the rebate-bound weather bars
Several versions are available within the various rebate systems (19, 22, 25).
BUG offers the right rain protection rail for every milling geometry. In addition to the milling geometry, the designs also determine whether thermal separation is possible and whether they are suitable for use in listed buildings.

FAQ: The most frequently asked questions about weather bars
Find out more about how weather bars work and how to maintain them in our FAQs. You can also find out about weather protection systems as a whole, thresholds, sash covering profiles and other accessories for weather protection rails on wooden windows.
Weather bars, also known as weather protection bars, are used on wooden windows to protect the lower crossbars, which are particularly exposed to the weather. If you want total protection, choose wood-aluminium window systems.
To find the right rain protection for your windows and doors, you need to know which rebate system is installed and the thickness of the window. If you need help with this, please contact us using the contact form.
Both weather bars are designed for rebate milling. However, the design differs in that the AP bar 16.23 is supplied with a retracted seal and the water is drained exclusively via the cover profile. The AP bar 16.24 does not rest directly on the wooden frame. A small proportion of the water is therefore drained away via the wooden frame.
To install the weather protection bars AP 16.23 and AP 16.24 from BUG, the brackets must first be screwed to the frame wood. Then simply clip the bar to the window frame.
BUG also supplies the right end caps to match the rain protection rail (required for rebate-dependent constructions) and, of course, the clip holder with which the AP bar is attached to the wooden frame.
Clean the weather protection bars once a year. Check for rust and other damage and ensure that the weatherboards are securely attached to the window. Replace damaged parts immediately to prevent further damage to the building.
Check your weather protection rails once a year. The lower window frames are often not fully protected from UV rays, wind, and other weather conditions. As older weather protection rails, cover profiles, or thresholds do not cover the entire wood, it is important to inspect wooden frames regularly and retrofit modern weather bars where necessary.
Weather protection rails on your old wooden windows and doors can be repaired and renovated in just a few simple steps. Remove the old aluminium rails and replace them with new, wide rails. Retrofitting aluminium weather protection systems from BUG is easy and cost-effective. The profiles are available with thermal break to prevent cold and thermal bridges. In consultation with your specialist company, you will find the right solution for many designs in the extensive BUG product range.
