Product overview
Optimum window thermal insulation with energy-saving windows from BUG
BUG’s Iow-E 2 energy-saving windows combine wood-aluminium windows with thermal insulation materials – without changing the production technology. A 20 mm insulation layer is applied to the outside of the wooden window frame only. It is protected from the elements by a welded aluminium frame. The window construction thus acts as a rear-ventilated thermal insulation facade. Various sash offset dimensions are possible thanks to a profiled wooden moulding on the sash that covers the glazing rebate.

Passive house standard with low-E 2
With the low-E 2 energy-saving window, you can achieve significantly better insulation values than with a standard window. If you additionally reinforce the window sash with wood, you can even achieve the passive house standard. Please note that factors such as wooden frames, glazing, etc. are also relevant for the calculation of the Uw value in addition to the low-E insulation.
The most important questions about energy-saving windows
Find out all about the energy-saving windows from BUG. Do you have further questions? Contact our experts.
In low-energy houses, window areas can have a maximum Uw value of 1.3 W/m²K. The Uw value is made up of the thermal transmittance of the frame (Uf) and the glazing (Ug) as well as their respective surface areas, the length of the glass edge seal and the thermal transmittance of the glazing. Therefore, in addition to double-glazing, the quality of the window frame is also crucial for adequate thermal insulation. The joint between the window frame and the wall must be airtight on the inside of the window and wind and rainproof on the outside.
BUG energy-saving windows are available in a choice of RAL, anodised or decorative finishes. This allows you to find the right functional and visual solution for facades, buildings and windows.
