Assembly of aluminium profiles for Vienna windows
The prefabricated aluminium frame is attached to the existing wooden frame using a clip connection. Attachment is carried out using either
- profile brackets,
- Clipfix,
- Profix or
- rotary brackets.
These enable expansion compensation in all directions. Standardised building connection solutions also make installation quick, practical and easy.
Old Vienna sash bar windows and box-type windows that ensure water tightness under heavy rain
Weather bars with varying volumes ensure high water tightness under heavy rain and optimal wood protection for the window frames. A full range of glazing types is available.
In addition, the BUG Design AWF 2 window system solution reduces excessive heating costs. They prevent overheating in strong sunlight and protect living spaces from disturbing environmental and road noise.
The wooden window is permanently protected by the coated aluminium frame profiles. Modern technology ensures that water is drained away on the external surfaces and does not penetrate the building structure or construction and cause structural damage.
Vienna windows in listed buildings are fitted with thermally insulated aluminium weather bars with moulded plastic bars and plastic stop. This ensures that all forces acting on the window construction are absorbed within the permitted deflection. This prevents plaster and wood damage to the window.
Windows and doors are usually double or triple glazed. In addition, the thermally broken aluminium profiles of BUG wood-aluminium systems provide high levels of thermal insulation and soundproofing.
The City of Vienna’s contract provision WW-SD1890 regulates all general provisions in a summarised performance specification for windows and window doors made of wood-aluminium. With BUG systems, it is possible to implement the regulations for aluminium facing shells:
- Corner connectors can be butt-welded and form-fit with aluminium fasteners, or mechanically and adhesively joined.
- The corner connectors are concealed and do not damage the wood.
- Linear thermal expansion can be considered and planned for.
- Visible or weathered outer edges are rounded with a radius of at least 2.5 mm.
- Surfaces are smooth, without material defects, colour variations or damage.
- Cutting and machining areas are burr-free.
- The aluminium sash profiles are bevelled to 30°.
- Aluminium cover profiles of the frame construction have a bevel of 15° and a depth of 14 mm to 16 mm.
- Matching end caps close the system.
