Flat roof edge trims: Reliable edge solutions for flat roofs
Flat roof edge trims, also known as roof edge trims or roof edge profiles, form the outer edge of a flat roof. They protect the roof waterproofing at the edges from the elements, stabilise the roof edge and ensure that the parapet and roof edge are constructed to a technically sound standard.
Depending on the roof structure, waterproofing system and facade construction, different flat roof edge trims are used. BUG offers a range of aluminium systems designed to adapt flexibly to different roof edge heights, connection details and installation requirements.

BUG flat roof edge trims in detail
Our flat roof edge trims are designed to meet a variety of requirements regarding the roof edge, waterproofing connections and installation. The following detailed information outlines the key features of each system and the applications for which they are suitable
BUG OV 2000: The adjustable flat roof edge trim
The OV 2000 roof edge trim ensures an optimal connection between the waterproofing membrane and the roof edge and is particularly suitable for large cover heights. Thanks to the integrated storm protection and the special drip edge, the OV 2000 provides particularly reliable protection for your flat roof.
Thanks to the tolerance-compensating bracket design, the substructure can be optimally adapted to the building substrate using articulated brackets. This makes the BUG OV 2000 particularly suitable for demanding roof edge trims where adjustability, stability and a secure installation are required.
Reliably absorbs changes in the length by temperature fluctuations
BUG OV 85: Two-part flat roof edge trim with angle adjustment
With the OV 85 two-part aluminium flat roof trim, the roof waterproofing membrane is integrated directly into the system. The corresponding clamping profile, which features an integrated sealing profile, enables roofing membranes and welded sheets to be securely integrated as edge connection strips. The edge strip can be removed at any time.
The BUG OV 85 flat roof edge trims are available in seven different cover heights (80 mm, 100 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm, 174 mm, 200 mm and 260 mm). Accessories such as external and internal corners, butt connectors and water spouts complement the system and ensure a neat finish at the roof edge.
Flexible angle adjustment at external corners (>90°)
High stability due to extruded aluminium cladding (up to 80–260 mm)
BUG OV 05: Two-part roof edge trim for classic flat roof connections
The OV 05 two-part flat roof edge trim is available in four standard cover heights: 100 mm, 130 mm, 150 mm and 200 mm. In addition, clip-on quick profiles are available in lengths of 220 mm and 400 mm. By extending the edge strip beyond the waterproofing layer, the system ensures a secure connection between the roof waterproofing and the roof edge.
Corner fittings measuring 250 x 250 mm and butt connectors are supplied for installation. This makes the BUG OV 05 ideal for standard flat roof edge trims where reliable and simple installation are the main priorities.
High stability due to extruded aluminium cladding (up to 100–200 mm)
BUG OV 21: Base profile for simple flat roof edge trims
With cover heights ranging from 60 mm to 200 mm, the OV 21 flat roof edge trim offers a flexible solution for various flat roof edge applications. As it can be used on both sides by rotating it 180°, the system is extremely versatile.
FAQs about flat roof edge trims
Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about flat roof edge trims and aluminium roof edge trims.
Roof edge trims form the outer edge of a flat roof and fulfil several important structural functions. They
- protect the roof’s waterproofing at the edges from the elements
- stabilise the roof edges, and ensure a clean transition between the roof and the facade
- help to ensure the roof edge is constructed correctly and remains functional over the long term
Depending on the roof structure, roof edge trims can perform additional functions, such assecurely integrating the roof waterproofing, accommodating movement within the structure and guiding connection strips.
They also provide a reliable finish for flat roofs with parapets or verges, and support the construction of roof edges in compliance with standards.
The verge is the roof’s protective shield. This area is where different materials meet, and due to their varying degrees of thermal expansion under heat and cold, they can create a weak point in the roof and a potential entry point for moisture. Flat roof edge trims from BUG form a structural unit with the roof membrane, protecting the edge area from the prevailing weather influences. Aluminium flat roof profiles are an especially robust and durable solution.
Yes, aluminium roof edge trims are available with a thermo-lacquered or powder-coated finish, and can be ordered in any colour (according to the RAL colour chart). Because roof edge profiles are highly visible due to their exposed location at the top of the building, they are increasingly becoming a focal point in construction projects. Therefore, take the opportunity to perfectly match the flat roof edge trim system to the architecture of the facade.
For both initial cleaning after installation and subsequent cleaning, thermo-lacquered surfaces can be rinsed with warm water. If necessary, you can also add non-chlorinated wetting agents. Then rinse well with clear water.
For thermo-lacquered and powder-coated surfaces, it is essential to avoid using abrasive cleaners in cases of heavy soiling. Instead, use paintwork cleaners and polishes similar to those used in car care. This will ensure that the surface of your flat roof edge trims is not damaged.
