Private residence in Bereldange
A project looking to the future: the journey through life
The innovative single-family home from the 1950s was completely redesigned to meet the needs of older people. The sustainable wooden construction and compact design enable independent living in a comfortable and barrier-free environment. The house is built on the curved and straight walls of the original garden and harmoniously reconciles indoor and outdoor living.
The interior of the house is designed around a wooden core that houses the bathrooms and part of the kitchen. The careful choice of materials, including timber walls and ceilings, oak window frames and mineral flooring, creates a healthy atmosphere indoors. An additional room on the lower floor can be used independently, for example by nursing staff.
The aim of the architect and client was to create a safe, accessible and comfortable residential building that would enhance the well being of its residents and preserve their autonomy.
