External glazing for wood-aluminium lift-and-slide doors
The HST profile system for lift-and-slide doors made of wood and aluminium offers an innovative connection technology that greatly simplifies fixing of the glass elements. Once the glass is inserted from the outside, the glass holder profile is clipped into place with a slight twisting motion.
The aluminium system solution holds, secures and supports the installation. The stainless steel bracket secures the cover frame and facilitates installation of the glazing bead. The glass and frame profile form a flush level. This makes installation easier, protects against damage and ensures a greater glass inset. According to tests by ift Rosenheim, the innovative click system can withstand pressure in accordance with guidelines and thus prevent water from penetrating.

FAQs about external glazing
Installation, sealing, replacement – below you will find answers to the most important questions about BUG external glazing.
There are no special requirements when installing windows with external glazing. Compared to conventional glazing, the installation is easier. The window elements are optimally aligned as standard in the wall opening and secured in the window reveal. The window frame is then sealed. The inner seal must be airtight all around and the outer seal must be watertight under heavy rain. Finally, the window sashes are inserted and the window panes are secured with BUG external glazing using a simple click system.
With BUG external glazing, the seals are installed as soon as the aluminium profiles are affixed to the wood. This ensures that the seals are tight and do not come loose after installation. Wedge and stuffing seals are therefore not required.
The subsequent installation of the glass pane (glazing installation from the outside) offers many advantages because it prevents the occurrence of faults when glazed elements have to be temporarily stored or moved on the construction site. External glazing saves you:
- Time, as production is simplified.
- Cost, as there is less damage and, if necessary, only the glazing needs to be replaced and not the entire window.
- Energy, as the seals already installed ensure a high level of weather protection.
- Resources, as exterior glazing is extremely stable and durable in its construction.
- Weight savings, as individual elements can be delivered and installed one after the other.
Yes, this is the easiest way to reglaze wood-aluminium windows. The click system that BUG has developed for external glazing enables the window panes to be easily replaced – without having to replace the window.
Our recommendation: Use customised windows that can be integrated into the wall opening. For this purpose, an individual measurement is taken and this forms the basis for construction of the window elements.
