Durable and safety weather protection for wooden windows from BUG

27-04-2023 | Weather protection rails from BUG Aluminium-Systeme have proven their worth in window construction, providing robust, long-term weather protection for wooden windows. Thanks to sophisticated technology, the weather protection rails have reliably protected against the elements for more than seven decades.

Efficient weather protection for wooden windows requires simple installation, safety, reliable function and sustainable durability. If a parameter is either unstable or not provided, this can have a negative long-term effect on both the wooden window and the building fabric. In this environment, weather protection rails must meet the highest requirements in terms of weather protection, safety, durability, thermal separation and ease of installation. It must also be resistant to cleaning agents and contact pressure, and sustainable.

BUG develops reliable weather protection rails

In decades of application and continuous use, BUG Aluminium-Systeme’s weather protection rails have proven their suitability for the GTR and TRDN large-capacity thermal rails, as well as the AP 16.23 and AP 16.24 attachment rails. In particular, the AP 16.24 weather protection rail is characterised by its robustness, meaning it can be used without issue in regions with harsh environmental conditions, such as the North Sea. This aluminium attachment rail is extremely durable, and installation is straightforward and safe. The AP 16.24 attachment rail achieves a good frame insulation value thanks to its combination of aluminium, weather-resistant special plastic and wood, making it ideal for passive house windows. In addition, the formation of a cold bridge is prevented and condensation on the web is avoided.

The AP 16.24 weather protection rail focuses on quick and easy installation. The BUG rail can be mounted in just two clicks and offers the benefit of a double guide with a click. The AP 16.24 attachment rail uses special mounting technology developed by BUG for this purpose. This bracket technology is characterised by its stable design and clear positioning of the weather protection rail. A special large water drainage prevents and regulates moisture damage to the window frame and interior due to overflowing. The water runs through completely. The result is a fully rear-ventilated system. This prevents the creation of moisture or capillaries.

The BUG AP 16.24 also features sealable edge protection that fits the window frame perfectly thanks to its special geometry. This also ensures secure drainage. This means that water does not collect in puddles on the ground, but can easily drain away through the enlarged drainage spaces.

Pioneering product solutions since 1952

BUG has once again demonstrated its experience in design, efficient product development and clear installation and product safety for over 70 years with safety product solutions such as the weather protection rails, including the technical specifications of the GTR and TRDN large-capacity thermal rails and the AP 16.23 and AP 16.24 attachment rails. In the early days of the company, BUG focused on developing weather protection rails made from aluminium profiles featuring a special vortex chamber. This design has been tested and refined over the decades. Even today, all weather protection rails from BUG are still suitable for all wooden windows and wooden window doors that are manufactured in accordance with standards and guidelines such as VFF leaflet HO.10. Thanks to its sophisticated technology, the brand was a pioneer in weather protection rails and still offers reliable weather protection for wooden windows today.
