BUG presents its product expansion for the wood-aluminium windows
Planners and architects have high demands on the appearance and design of their buildings. These include attractive and modern facades – often consisting of large glass surfaces. These special features often present processors with major challenges during pre-assembly and assembly, which BUG has addressed.
The solution for safety in a modern, transparent design is the BUG FrontProtect. This system provides an elegant and secure glass fall protection solution. It provides a clear view of the outside. At the same time, the system offers extensive scope for design thanks to glass heights that can be individually customised and implemented in different ways. Safety glass from 423 to 1,100 mm high and 402 to 1,607 mm wide can currently be realised. The visible surfaces are offset and can be realised with a single or double fold. The angular profile shape also supports the possibility of architecturally enhancing the building facade. Architects and planners as well as building owners benefit from this uncomplicated planning and realisation of the BUG FrontProtect, whether as a turn or tilt and turn window.
Another benefit is the concealed fixings. There are no unsightly screws or grooves visible. Additional and safety constructions, as well as pre-assembly or additional assembly work on the facade, are no longer necessary. No damage is caused by drilling into the window frames or the building facade. A heat transfer coefficient of up to 0.73 can be achieved, depending on the type of glazing. This saves energy and protects resources.
The BUG FrontProtect system is easy to install and can be combined with all standard and proven design variants of BUG wood-aluminium systems. The air permeability, water tightness under heavy rain, wind load, operating forces and impact resistance are complied with in accordance with the test standards. This variety enables elegant and modern facades to be created without compromising on safety.
The BUG external glazing, when combined with the BUG cliXsafe, offers extensive design possibilities. This system is highly weather-resistant and durable. In addition, the external glazing can be designed as a turn or tilt and turn window with the LowE low-energy solution and as a lift-and-slide door. In addition to being variable, the external glazing is easy and practical to install. In this case, glazing is always carried out from the outside – whether by the processor or simply on site at the construction site. No time-consuming preparatory work or additional installation work is required.
A specially developed click system creates a flush surface that is reflected in the flawless facade design and can also be fully integrated into existing BUG wood-aluminium systems. The angular frame profile can be installed using all common types of wood, and can be produced using either mechanical or welding methods. The individual colour design of the cover frame, sash and support profiles, as well as the edge protection, also makes architectural highlights possible. In addition to anodised colours, conventional powder coatings or decors can also be realised in any colour.
The BUG cliXsafe is a direct complement to the BUG external glazing system. The cover frame can easily accommodate sash and fixed glazing in just one piece. This means that fixed glazing, which is glazed from the outside, as well as opening elements can be manufactured in a frame. It is not necessary to join individual elements. One benefit of this external glazing variant is that the seal and sash profiles ensure water tightness under heavy rain thanks to barely visible drainage slots. As a result, the highest levels of weather protection and safety are achieved.
By combining the FrontProtect with external glazing and the cliXsafe, BUG has created an optimum product expansion for modern, safe facade design. These two products fit seamlessly into the full range of BUG wood-aluminium systems, making them ideal for large buildings thanks to their quick and easy installation. The construction of the Post Luxembourg building, comprising around 2,250 frames and sashes, was completed on schedule in 2021.
BUG’s system construction method allows for plenty of individuality. Thanks to the prefabricated parts in precisely fitting sets, the assembly systems allow simple, quick and time-saving work. The system components are straightforward to install, with no complicated instructions required. The intelligent glass fall protection solutions and the newly developed external glazing combine safety, weather protection, design and ecology.
